High voltage electronic circuits
I'm logging circuits that I come across that have wider than normal
input voltage ranged. Especially power supply circuits. In
many cases these can be used in place of transformer based supplies in
switching circuits.

Try the Siliconix [http://www.Siliconix.com/]
SI9110 series of PWM (switching). Its designed to operate from a
supply voltage of up to 110V and has current sensing and shutdown functions.
Si9120 is able to do 30W it's self from a 10-450VDC input, and higher if
an output transistor is used. See the application notes AN707, AN708.

National Semiconductor has many
circuits in both switching and linear that can handle inputs to 60VDC.
