Robotics Information Page
I've often described myself as a frustrated sculptor. I love to make sculpture,
but I don't have studio space where I can take an air hammer against stone
without annoying the neighbors. I'm in a similar boat with robotics, except
that it's a lack of tools. Time and smaller amounts money will correct
that's easier than would be needed for correcting the problem with space
and neighbors. So it's robotics I pursue for now. Maby I can
give them artistic yet functional forms.
I enjoy robotics, especially the creative aspect, so I've begun to
experiment with various ideas related to robotics. Ideas that I've had
are enumerated below. I also have a page of links.

Robot projects currently being worked on
-
Trash Can - My initial explorations into a
trash can style robot ala R2D2. As for what this one will look like,
I'm half tempted to cut up a metal trash can to use as the outside surface
of the robot. Rough size will be 24in in diameter, and 42 inches
tall. Eventually this robot will have a full PC as it's main brain,
and networked microcontrollers to control functions like motor control
and touch sensors.
Stalled robotics projects
-
Hexapod - a 6 legged walker with an artistic
design.
-
Spinner - A robot that loves to spin.
-
PDF files - PDF files for CAN bus information.

Wireless Lan Notes - I see the
prices falling on wireless lan hardware over the next few years.
Many manufacturers have entered the arena, and Apple corporation has introduced
a product that is significantly cheeper than existing products. Wireless
LAN has a great future for home robotics. I see it's being an excelent
means for the home robot to communicate with other devices around the home.
